The unemployment rate 8.7 pct, Wash at lowest since 2009

Private sector job growth has pushed the unemployment rate to its lowest point since Washington February 2009, officials said Wednesday.

The unemployment rate is 8.7 per cent in November down from 9.1 per cent was in October, according to the Department of employment Security. The State added a few more than 12,100 work-months from the start of the recession at the end of 2007.

The country has added jobs on a regular basis over the past year, but have usually come in small chunks.

Morgan said it was too early to say whether the growth is the beginning of a trend, and noted that the number and can be revised beginning Nov. October unemployment number was revised upwards from 9 per cent to 9.1 per cent.
